Disneyland Memorial Orgy

This "stupidshite" was lifted and quoted from: illegal-art.org:

Wally Wood
"Disneyland Memorial Orgy"
Poster, 1967

One of the original Mad Magazine illustrators, Wally Wood published this poster in The Realist, an underground newsletter, in 1967. An inside source at Disney told Realist editor Paul Krassner that the company chose not to sue to avoid drawing attention to what could ultimately be a losing battle. However, Disney was not so reluctant when an entrepreneur pirated the drawing and sold it as a black light poster. The blatantly commercial nature of the bootleg--as well as its potential to reach an audience far larger than the Realist--prompted Disney to file a lawsuit, which was ultimately settled out of court.

"Freak Bikers" Sighting.

Last night, while riding my bicycle over the Williamsburg Bridge in New York City, I bumped into a group of "freak bikers." It appears that these adventurous and outgoing individuals like to get together in groups and explore urban environments on their hand crafted cycling machines. I thought these folks were really cool and asked if I could take their pictures, which they agreed too. Two clubs were riding together, The "Black Label Bike Club" from Brooklyn and the "Rat Patrol" from Chicago. Good Stuff!! Thanks! And GOOD Luck with your event this weekend!

Chalkboard Drawings

This is an anonymous submission, sort of referencing a caveman drawing, or a desperate attempt to find "language." Also, could be a possible response to the Saltz excerpt below. Nontheless, this is potential "ARTMODS" material. SEND IN MORE SPONTANEOUS CHALKBOARD DRAWINGS, I THINK THEY ARE COOL!

"Can Art Change the World?"

This is an excerpt from an article by Jerry Saltz titled, "The Whole Ball of Wax, Can Art Change the World? A Holistic Theory." Jerry is the the head art critic for the Village Voice. The entire article can be read by clicking on the title of this post.

"The closest I've come to getting a handle on all this is something painter Eric Fischl has talked about. Imagine calling two pets, one a dog, the other a cat. Asking a dog to do something is an amazing experience. You say, "Come here, Fido," and Fido looks up, pads over, puts his head in your lap, and wags his tail. You've had a direct communication with another species; you and Fido are sharing a common, fairly literal language. Now imagine saying, "Come here, Snowflake" to the cat. Snowflake might glance over, walk to a nearby table, rub it, lie down, and look at you. There's nothing direct about this. Yet something gigantic and very much like art has happened. The cat has placed a third object between you and itself. In order to understand the cat you have to be able to grasp this nonlinear, indirect, holistic, circuitous communication. In short, art is a cat."
